Transaction volume by stablecoin type
In Q1 2025, velocity for PYUSD, USDC, and USDT all increased:
- PYUSD showed the highest growth rate-with velocity nearly doubled from approximately 3.28e-12 in early January to around 5.28e-12 by late February, signaling greater usage in trading and payment transactions, possibly driven by PayPal’s expanding integrations and cross-chain initiatives.
- USDC and USDT also exhibited rising velocities, although at a slower pace. USDC increased from about 3.45e-12 to 5.50e-12, while USDT rose from 1.97e-12 to 3.38e-12.
In July 2025, USDT consistently ranks #1 in daily trading volume, averaging $52 billion per 24h.
Between June 2024 and June 2025, USDT monthly transaction volume ranged around $703 billion, peaking near $1.01 trillion.
A May 2025 survey found that among stable-coin payments companies, about 90% of volume was attributed to USDT.
RLUSD daily trading volume ranged from $26 million in July to peaks of $174 million in November, averaging $64 million-$75 million in late 2025.
Transaction volume by blockchain
- 500 million USDC transactions processed on Ethereum alone in 2025.
- Ethereum Layer-1 alone recorded $480 billion in stablecoin transactions during May 2025, while B2B payments accounted for $94.2 billion between January 2023 and February 2025-figures that would make traditional correspondent banking networks nervously recalculate their relevance.
